If You Build it They Will Come

So you have a website, that’s a good start. Long nights and days have been put into your site to make it unique. What you have just created the greatest website on earth. With this site you could sell anything and people would buy it. Good for you, I congratulate you because I really wanted to do that. There is only one thing wrong with your site, the lack of visitors, unfortunately for you that is the biggest ingredient for having a successful site. Now your asking your self, how do I get visitors to my site? Great question. I still wonder this from time to time.

There are many ways to promote your site. Some are free (great for people on a budget) and others you have to pay for. Both have pros and cons. Free advertising of course is free. This is a huge advantage compared to paying for it. If you are tight on money this is the way to go. You can still get good results with out paying a penny for them; you just have to work harder. That is the main downside of free advertising, but if you have the time this is a great option. Remember that the more money you spend the less time you will have to spend to get your website noticed. Knowing this pretty much gives us the pros of pay advertising. The con, it takes money not good for those of us with out the funds.

What are the types of free advertising? There are many, I have listed just a few.

Writing articles and submitting them to article directories.

Blog and Ping

Traffic exchanges.

Word of mouth.

Posting to forums, site in Sig. file

Writing articles does a few things for you. It lets others think of you as an expert in your field. You also get back links to your site. This is good for your search engine ranking. You also get targeted visitors to your site. (People who really want to see your site). Blog and ping is a great technique for getting some visitors as well. Write something worth reading and post it to your blog. Make sure you have at least one link to your site on your blog. After every post you make, make sure you ping it. This lets the search engines know that your site or blog as fresh new content on it. This is great for search engines. Traffic exchanges are also a good way to get some traffic. However it isn’t has good. Not targeted, however still a way of getting some people to see your site.

Paid advertising methods include but are not limited to:

PPC (Pay Per Click)

Ezine Ads.

Offline ads. (flyers, biz cards, etc.)

These are the main paid advertising methods. Of course there are many others. PPC gives you targeted visitors. They see your ad on places like google search results and click on it. You only pay for the times you ad gets clicked on. Good way of getting visitors quickly, just make sure you set a budget and stick to it. This method can get very expensive if you don’t keep track of it. Ezine solo ads, are another paid method of advertising. Find an ezine related to your site, then see if you can buy a solo ad (your ad is the only thing in the e-mail, best form of ezine advertising.) Make sure the ezine has a good number of subscribers. This way much more people will see you ad.

This is just a few of the more popular advertising methods both free and paid. Use one or the other or mix and match. Make sure to watch your budget and work really hard. The harder you work the more people will see your site and the more business you will receive, and since you have the greatest site on earth this will be very good for you. I hope this article helps even just a little bit. I use these methods for my sites and they work, as long as you work them.
